Catch the Classics Online!

Even if you’re usually one of the lucky bunch, able to frequent your nearby ballet company and take in performances throughout the year, it doesn’t look like any of us will be heading to the theater anytime soon. The COVID-19 closures postponed or ended seasons for dancers in all realms of the industry, but professional ballet companies around the world have taken to the internet to continue providing performances we all can enjoy! Pointe magazine published an awesome article listing numerous events, and I’ll link that below for you to check out. But for teachers looking to infuse their virtual learning with a little classical performance -- or hey, even just hoping their students will at least take interest in some familiar titles -- I’ve compiled some of the most well-known here for quick reference.

And if you’ve stumbled across this blog post as a parent, dancer, or ballet enthusiast… welcome! Honestly, I’m stoked you’re looking to take advantage of a more diverse range of programming. There is more to dance than what graces the stage at competitions and conventions, and more to professional ballet than the Nutcracker (but that’s on here too for those of you longing for some holiday nostalgia).
